Tetsuya Nomura, best known for directing the Kingdom Hearts series, will not return as a director for the next installment of Final Fantasy VII Remake. For the first part, which was released in April 2020, he was co-director alongside Naoki Hamaguchi. Hamaguchi will be the only director on the second part, while Nomura will serve as its Creative Director.
